Holding on to what inhibits?
Why? Why not?
Well, let's discuss this shall we?
Inhibition - something that holds you back.
When holding on to a life preserver, which inhibits, to a point, you drowning, this is good.
When holding on to a rabid dog as it bites you, which is obviously wanting to inhibit you from getting away safely, this is bad.
When holding on to someone dieing, which inhibits you from forgetting this person, this could be good, this could be bad.
Good-growth in strength and heart
Bad-growth in anger and discontentment
When holding on to the true heart of things, which inhibits you from hate, this is good.
When holding on to hate, which inhibits you from anything good, this is bad.
What else is there to say, except measure your inhibitions, see how they size up to the greater scheme of things.
As you go through your healing, I just want to remind you to remember that not everyone is on the same page with you. You will hurt others without harming them. You will always wonder if you are handling things correctly, but you will grow in confidence that you are. You will realize that you can only be in control of yourself for the most part. Even if people don't know the reasons for the changes, most of which you are under no obligation to explain to, there will most likely be some kind of impact. Be it on family, friends, random strangers. As you change, you may have regrets, but you also may be learning why those situations occurred. At least you are putting in some kind of effort. We have to love ourselves first, because our love of others, even God, will not be what it could be without loving our own person. Being able to accept the perfect with the imperfect is hard, but I pray you will reach that point as well. We are human, we are still here for some reason. You do have worth. You are important. Don't let anyone tell you or make you think any different.
It was also suggested to me, besides journaling, to make self affirmation notes. Write down positive notes about yourself. Put them in your comfort box, in your wallet or purse, in your car. If you put them in your phone, which I've done, make sure they are not too personal. Don't be ashamed to be improving you.
I hope this evening finds you in a safe place & a peaceful mindset.
