Take Back the night 2015 Speech

5/1/2015

Picture
Even though my words are sometimes restricted and my artwork sometimes missing, I must push forward. Here's the rough draft of my speech. Grateful for growth. Love.

Change the rules. No matter what you wear, nobody has the right to call you slut/whore/rachet/trash, etc. Cinderella was "rachet" to her step sisters and step mother, but look how that turned out.

Speak out, no matter what. Your family, friends and acquaintances may get mad, leave your life, or just never understand, but I want to encourage you to speak out!  If you always laugh, work, get high, or what ever your distraction is, to keep from crying, you will never heal correctly.  I, also, choose to believe in God who's been with me this whole time, carrying me through it all. And Jesus is my Lord in Savior despite what the Devil has been allowed to put me through.

Stop the cycle of violence and neglect. We don't know why people do what they do. It starts from birth. Parents, adults, please open up yourselves and get the healing you may not even know you may need. Also allow for open paths of communication so that any child can open up to you safely. Teach your own how to say "no," what to say "no" to & to speak out from the beginning. No matter what role you may play, please do not judge or blame, but sympathize and listen and do what you can.  I'm not saying to take on the world's problems, but be discerning. Prayer helps me. Let's start a cycle of peace, healing & healthy relationships.

Your past is your past, you are no less worthy of love, good health and respect than the next person. Give these things to yourself first, then to others.  I've learned that people who get mad at me for making my own decisions about what to do with my life or for having appropriate feelings for my own situation need not be around me that much.

If someone would rather lie & prey on & or deceive you or pray over your dead abuser rather than help you or pray over you, they have the the wrong mindset. Get the whole story and don't throw the victim under a bus. Stop covering up the evil that has happened, that's how it grows and the cycle continues. You be the first one if need be. WASAC and others are willing to fight for and with you. Find your safe place. Evil, just like Good, is present in everyone. Until you are in survivor mode, it's easier for Evil to follow you and lead more evil into your life. Nobody is immune and once it's realized that we have more important things than who's marrying who or what drugs are more worthy of legalization, maybe we can get to being one nation under God, without prejudice and with true love for mankind. God knows what he's doing, let Him work.
