If the sounds in your head are telling you what to say. If your heart is pounding severely at your ribcage. If the words don't come out the way you rehearsed. If time seems to pass uncomfortably quick. If nothing seems good enough, why bother in the first place?
A writer, a poet, a dreamer, a romantic, a lost soul, a lingering emotion, an empty space, a healing in time.
What to say of spoken word that is not to be a song, a poem? Who's to say that what seems normal, actually is not. Each person speaks differently to different people. The enunciation, pronunciation, fluctuations, completions, to connotations, are all affected. What you say may sound to yourself pleasant and unyielding. Yet, to another, empty and withdrawn. Expectation plays a pat. Having only what we want to hear as others speak before us.
Time will tell. Experience brings about a peace of mind. When not weighed down, or blinded, by expectations, doubt, anger, fear, or any emotion at all, then and only then are we "listening."
Maybe we should listen to ourselves more. Stop talking and listen. The answers are always there, somewhere beneath all the jibberish. Stop and listen. What do you hear?
